[2010.12.19] Seoul Adventure STARTED in DEC10

I just went to Seoul from 17th to 29th December during the icy winter season with my friends (who are not fans by the way). Urmm,, people asked me why I went during winter cos it's so cold. Honestly, I didn't want to but ahem, my friends jio me cos they are forced to clear leave during christmas season. After muchhhhhh persuasion, I decided to go lor.. and ahem, by the way, ahem, I also "Shun Bian" (or "conveniently" in english) went to watch Baby's Musical CafeIn in Seoul.. keke..

I will just dispense with the typical shopping trip account of Seoul since ahem, there isn't anything much to buy since it's winter. Hence, clothes there were not suitable for us in Singapore. Only bought back cosmetics and accessories and of course ate the yummy Korean food there..I will just go straight into my fan account related to SS501. Dear Lois kindly brought me around when my friends have not yet arrived to do all the SS501 related activities..keke.

[2010.12.19] Baby Musical Cafein Venue in Seoul Dec10

Baby's Musical was held in a small theatre Baekam theatre within walking distance from Samseong subway station, just across COEX. Below are pictures of the venue outside and inside...Noticed the Black van on the picture on the top right corner below? keke. That's Baby's van!!!

The four leads. Basically, the four leads just have shifts in different schedules. Baby's leading lady is mostly with the other girl on the right of the picture, which is in a different poster with another guy.

[2010.12.19] Synopsis for Baby Musical Cafein in Seoul Dec10

MUSICAL SCENE 1

The musical finally started and the first scene was that of a girl sweeping the floor of a café and then shouting to someone on the side. This first scene was about this girl working at a café and whose recent ex-boyfriend just got married in HongKong. She was pretty upset about it and wrote something on the café blackboard to say “Love is… LIES” because of this incident. Now, ahem, I was really scruntinising this actress because because she doesn’t look at all like the one I saw on the poster. I thought, WOW!! Either the girl has a very successful COSMETIC surgery or ahem, there’s another lead actress who hasn’t shown herself. Really, this gal looks much prettier and younger than the one I saw on the promotional poster!

Then, one month later, (or one week later forgot), the girl recovered from her despair and was back to her cheery self.. until she got a call from her boss who told her that she will be working shifts with another sommelier who knows wine to improve the business. So, daytime it’s café and night time it’s wine bar. She was pretty upset about it.

PS: Please note that how I understand what’s going on is not because my Korean is great hor,, it’s cos dear Lois was beside me just translating some important contents of the musical so I can understand what’s going on. Of course the exaggerated facial expression and singing of the two leads also helped me understand..keke..

MUSICAL SCENE 2

Ah,,, this is where our dear Baby came in!! It’s night time and he came in for his night shift to work at the wine bar. In this scene, Baby was preparing the new look to change the café to a wine bar atmosphere. This is where Baby’s comical acting was so hilarious it makes the audience laugh..:>
Firstly, Baby came in with his confident suave look and then put down his wine bottles at the bar counter and then went to the front of the stage and say:”AHNYONGHASEYO” introducing himself to the audience. The audience replied back softly “Ahnyonghaseyo”. Then Baby show that exaggerated expression squinting at the soft reply and then say again louder :”AHNYONGHASEYO”! Then the audience replied in louder tone “Ahnyonghaseyo”. Finally, Baby looks very satisfied (forgot what he said in Korean), making the audience chuckle in laughter. Keke.

Then he started to do funny things to transform the café into wine bar. Firstly, he rolled up the blind at the bar counter to reveal a whole set of wine bottle behind the cabinet. When he slowly roll up the blind, he humm a bit of lyrics “Norbu li Na Pa so” dadada dum dum dum “as he rolled it up.. The audience were giggling because keke, that lyrics were from SS501 song “Because I am Stupid”.. haha.

He then did a flip of the table cloth so that it turns from white to red. He did it with a “Tada” just like some magic performer. Then he swivled a cup tray to turn it to a wine tray and then click his fingers so that the screen on top change from a café menu to a wine menu. When he did all these like he’s some magic performer, the audience were actually having fun with him like saying “AHHHH” “WOAHHH” loudly when he did all these. Then, baby gave a satisfied scynical chuckle when the audience say “WOOOAHHH” to his “magic” tricks..haha..

MUSICAL SCENE 3

Anyways, I will fast forward the whole plot and just zoom in on the funny parts. Basically, the story line is the female lead don’t like the night shift sommelier because that guy actually tamper with her blackboard about what “Love is”. Because Baby’s character is a cheery fun loving guy with lots of gal friends, he saw the blackboard written by the gal “Love is.. LIES” and then he changed it to say something like it’s not or something and drew a tongue sticking out at the blackboard.

Hence, baby’s character decided to disturb the girl by pretending to be a customer at her day café. This is a very funny scene, because both leads have exaggerated facial expressions and dance moves. The girl fell in love with Baby’s suave character and the fact that he knows how to appreciate her coffee (when in actual fact, he knows of course since he knows the coffee beans they use at the café). Baby was pretending to be suave and then was a bit afraid of drinking her self made coffee, cos afraid she may poison him or something cos he feels she looks like a someone desperate for a guy! You all should have seen Baby’s facial expressions.. it’s SO FUNNY!!! He would give you that roll up his eyes at the sky look when facing the audience or a synical smirk on his face to the audience when he’s pretending to be suave to the girl. Haha. Really! Baby can be a great comedian! The audience was really laughing with Baby when he made those expressions.

And it’s so funny when he finally introduce himself to the girl as “Jung Min” when his real name is “Ji Min”.. Imagine Baby using the name of Jung Min..haha.

Then one day, the gal decided to drop by at the night shift wine bar and Baby had no choice but to disguise himself by putting on the buck tooth and the big glasses. So, in the plot, it goes that Ji Min and the girl became great friends as the girl was seeking his advice about her falling in love with “Jung Min”. “Jung Min” then started dating the girl.

There was this funny scene, when Baby was sitting down reading a book at the café waiting for the girl. This is what he read out with suave:
”I’m YOUR MAN, gue---dae--yo, ummmm,, Ta-da-da-ta, o--neul--do, ummm,,, I’m Your MAN… OH MY GOD!”

And the audience was really bursting out laughing as he say each word with suave and slowly… I guess you gals know by now why,, haha.. he was reading out the lyrics of SS501 song:” U R MAN”.. keke. It was soooo funny!!!

There was also one scene where the two leads were watching a horror film and the real Ji Min with buck tooth told the gal she can take the chance to have skinship with “Jung Min”.. and the gal was really roving her hands all over Baby’s body until the last shot of Baby showing that real shocked look to the audience, with his back against the door, and arms hanging at the side, showing that he cannot stand it after the gal’s roving.. It was so funny! Audience were laughing.

As for the smootching scene, the two leads were having wine and as Baby wanted to kiss her on her forehead, the gal reached up to kiss Baby on the lips.. hiaz… LUCKY GAL!!!

Finally, “Jung Min” discovered he really like the gal and wanted to continue to date her. However, to do so, he has to quit his job as night time sommelier to have more time for the gal dating. There is this scene of the Ji Min with Buck tooth saying goodbye to the gal. The gal insisted on taking a photo with Ji Min to show their friendship. After Ji Min left, the gal felt lost.

Before he left, he gave the gal a box of wine with some instructions of what each wine is for. As the gal read out the gift, I don’t know why, I actually teared at that scene because you can see that the gal really misses Ji Min, whom she actually treasured more.

Then after a few more days by accident, the gal finally found out Ji Min is Jung Min and was angry with Ji Min. Ji Min tried to patch things up and took the chance to wrote on the café blackboard: “Both Ji Min and Jung Min Loves YOU!” for the girl to see.. AWWW SO SWEET!! I also teared at that part. Eventually they patched up and HAPPY ENDING!!!

CONCLUSION:

The whole storyline was very simple with only two leads. However, I was very impressed with Baby’s portrayal of the two characters. Totally different. His body language, the way he walks and talks, all changed totally when he’s into the two different personas. One is a nerdy chatty type, the other is a suave handsome gentleman type. And of course, not forgetting the fact that Baby’s great voice in singing really is magnificent. It blends very well with the girl’s voice. The whole musical was so funny with Baby’s exaggerated facial expressions and of course keke,, hints of SS501 songs..haha..

I was also very impressed with the girl’s voice in singing. It was very powerful! In fact, the audience actually gave rousing applause to both the girl and Baby when they finally concluded their act with some singing and dancing. Solo singing first for each of them then finally duet singing together. You can see that the two leads are really appreciative of the audience. As the wooden door closes, you can still see the two leads’s shadows of their arms esp Baby’s waving enthusiastically to the crowd behind the window! Audience all waved back.

The three sessions I’ve attended was all full house with rousing applause. It’s also then that I realize that this musical was done in shifts. Somehow, Baby actually paired up with this girl more than the other one that was shown on publicity before and on poster. The other guy also shifted with Baby too.

[2010.12.19] Waiting for Baby After Musical Cafein In Seoul Dec10

As I was saying above, on 18th December, I was carrying our SGTripleS gift for Baby.  After the musical, we waited for Baby at the theatre hall. Fans were already lining up there waiting for Baby. Initially, Lois was thinking maybe we should stand nearer the van waiting outside for Baby or pass it to Baby’s manager. But Eunjin told us to wait inside the lobby when Baby would just come out from lift and try to pass to Baby. We just follow Eunjin’s lead..keke.. We waited and waited.. Poor Lois has to wait with us.. It was > 1 hour. We were wondering what’s taking them so long to come out. We found out it was because there was some interview after the musical..hiaz..

As the waiting gets longer, I got more nervous.. Will I be able to pass the gift to Baby? There wasn’t a lot of fans inside the lobby. More are outside waiting in the cold nearer the van. Moreover, not a lot of fans inside the lobby were carrying gifts. Just some letters. I do hear some Japanese fans.

Then, FINALLY, The lift came and Baby came out with his managers beside him. As not many fans were inside the lobby, we started to move nearer Baby. I was kinda afraid but Eunjin just pushed me to the front and then I saw Baby’s outstretched hand. I just put the bag handle on Baby’s hand and then he just took it! I can’ t believe it. Everything was like in a flash. I don’t even have the chance to say anything and fans started swarming beside us. We just follow behind Baby and Eunjin was asking me to quickly follow him to the van. Too many fans were already waiting near the van. Not a lot of scream but I hear some people shouting oppa.. and and and suddenly, I don’ t know what came over me and I also followed and shouted OPPA!.. AHH!!! When that word came out, I was stunned! I called Baby OPPA???!!!! Somehow, I don’t dare say the word Baby else the Korean fans would be looking at me in disbelieve…AHH!!!! Keke.

Anyways, Baby was herded inside the van by the managers. Before he went in, he managed to take some more presents from fans near the van. I was already in seventh heaven cos I managed to pass the present to Baby..haha. which I thought would not be possible. I can’t take any clear fan vids cos too many fans were around and I was like still stunned in disbelieve at being able to pass the pressie to Baby.  Finally as Baby’s van was moving off into the road, he rolled down the window and then stick out his head to wave to the fans! SWEET BABY!

On 19th December, after the 6pm session, Eunjin and I was waiting again at the lobby for Baby to come out. This time, I hear some Singaporeans standing beside me. I can’t recognize them so I just act blur and kept quiet..WHOOPSS STUPID OMMA!!! Oh… and then Eunjin also pointed out that there’s a huge flower stand just like Pretty Boy’s one that says “To Hyung jun from Singapore”. I don’t know who sent that but it’s really a nice gesture..keke.  The first to come out this time was the female lead. She was actually much prettier in person and as she came out, she bowed to us and some fans say “You have worked hard” in Korean to her and she bowed with a sweet smile..keke. Then of course, we continue waiting on for Baby.

Then Baby came out after half an hour. This time I was trying to take fancam since I did not manage to do it yesterday. However, the shoving was pretty bad. One fan nearly tripped and that’s why in my vid below, you hear Baby kept saying “Jom Shim” meaning careful in Korean. I guess he was worried for the fans. This time round, there were more fans. Finally, Eunjin and I decided to just stand at the road to wait for Baby to stick his head out from the van like yesterday. And YES! Baby did not disappoint us. My cam was not good with night shots so hence, you gals may not see clearly in my vid. But Baby did stick out his head to shout :”SARANGAHEO” to the fans and wave his hands.. Baby really was very happy that weekend cos the audience was really having fun with him and there’s rousing applause and full house. Baby also tweeted about it too that weekend..keke.

So that’s my adventure in the Musical Cafein! I am really so grateful to both Lois and Eunjin for making my trip so memorable by helping me get tickets for 3 sessions of cafein. After that, I asked Lois to help me book for more sessions before I fly back to Singapore but all the good seats or most of the seats were sold out..hiaz.. I really envy the fans who can attend the 31st December session with Baby counting down with them! Am sure they also had lots of fun!!! Honestly, I really wish Baby would bring this musical to Singapore. Am sure it would be DAEBAK too! It’s an easy to understand plot even if it’s in Korean..keke

[2010.12.20] Visit to JungMin Royal Avenue in Seoul Dec10

And of course, when I'm in Seoul in Dec10, how can we forget Jung Min’s Royal Avenue??!!! On 20th December, Lois and Eunjin kept me company and brought me around Samcheongdonggil, Gwanghwamun area. Eunjin had to go back to Busan in the evening so she cannot keep me company for long.. but she’s very nice to keep me company around Seoul. We decided to go to Jung Min’s Royal Avenue. But before we went, we found out that JungMin just flew to Japan for his fan meeting.. sob sob. I was a bit disappointed but honestly, I don’t expect to see him there anyways since he’s so busy. Despite that, we still decided to go and see how Royal Avenue looks like. It’s a bit out of the way, and honestly, if Lois didn’t bring me there, I would be lost because it’s situated in some alley.

JungMin is so cute. He actually had a message book there for fans to leave messages for him.

There’s even some Polaroid pictures of fans who actually took photos and left messages for him. These were all hung on the wall. There are fans from all over, like from Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong.

When we were going to write our message for JungMin, we flipped to a page which showed a message from fans from Singapore below.keke.. oki.. who of you out there who wrote this message? Hands up?









Keke.. Lois wrote a message. I also wrote one but forgot to take picture..hiaz.. Mine is :
”Jung Min, Please come to Singapore. 정민 LOVE형준. From Chrystal@SGTripleS”..keke..
We also saw the famous rabbits in Royal Avenue.. urm,, there’s a definite rabbit smell..keke. they were a bit inactive and lazying around..keke.

There’s also two cute figurines on horses beside the Christmas tree. We are guessing it’s Jung Min and baby..haha.. Dunno from whom though..THEY ARE BOTH MINE!!!!!

We had coffee there and after resting for a while, we decided to move on as Eunjin needs to catch a train to Busan. Hiaz… it’s so sad… we had to part cos she’s really a baby fan just like me..haha.. even though we had difficulty communicating. You should see us. She was on her iphone trying to translate what I meant and the other way round. In the end, she also cannot stand my broken Korean and says she can understand simple English words. I can try that with her..haha.. I am really thankful for her patience despite our language barrier!

[2010.12.29] Seoul SS501 related adventure in Dec2010

For the next few days in Seoul, I told Lois to just bring me to places where the boys have been before. She told me they frequent Apgujeong and Garosugil. Basically, even if idols were to walk down the streets, there would be no fans stalking because it’s supposed to be high class and not very courteous if any fans were to stalk around them. So, the idols do feel comfortable around that area.

We went to Apgujeong at night, hoping to see if any boys were to pop up.. keke.. in the end, we ended up seeing JYJ fan signing private event in one of the café second floor.  Not sure if we are lucky or unlucky.. Did not get to see our boys but instead bump into JYJ event. ..haha. Some fans were standing outside so Lois asked who’s up there. That’s how we know it was JYJ.

We waited for half an hour but it looks like they are not coming down yet, so we decided to move on.. and try a bar which maybe Kyujong frequent before..keke.













The next day, we went to Garosugil to find the spot where the boys shot the Music Video for the SS501 solo collection. You gals remember the scene where Jungmin was waving to her girlfriend while crossing the road and Kyu Jong shot JungMin? That’s where it was shot.

However, after walking down the street, we can’t really find the exact spot cos cafes seemed to have changed. So, anyways, it was a nice street to walk because there are unique design boutique shops and cafes. In the end, we ended up seeing two youths being escorted by bodyguards shopping.. we suspect it’s some important person’s children..keke.. but hiaz… no sight of our boys..








To be honest, there’s one point in time when I was tempted to go down to SBS to wait for Baby on the early morning 1am KBS time since he’s having live radio broadcast on 25th December after his musical on 24th December 10pm. However, it happened that Christmas eve and Christmas day was the coldest two days that time and I don’t think Baby would want to see a frozen statue waiting outside the SBS building?? Keke… so I eventually decided to give up. However, I decided to send SMS to Baby’s Music high. You can read the post Below

Music High Live Radio Message I sent to Baby

Since I am in korea for Christmas n baby had live radio on music high on 25 dec thanks to cloud tip on this forum, dear Lois taught me how to SMS message to baby during his music high session . Hence even though I know there will be tons of messages to baby during this festive season, I still try my luck by SMS to #1077.


I tried to send first message below when baby say we can send in messages. Mine is:


"I watched cafein. Daebak! Bring cafein to Singapore. We miss you!"


Sigh too bad baby did not read out the message during the live radio. But he is sweet to send mass SMS to all message senders. Below is his SMS message I received on my phone after I sent out the above message:


쭌디제이에요 뮤하가족 여러분~메리 크리스마스~~ 햅삐뉴이어~


The above brief translation is: this is dj jun. Everyone, merry Christmas and happy new year!


Then, I tried sending a message second time half way through music high. Mine is:


"Singapore triples Christmas wish is for you to come Singapore"


I thought gone case too until near end of radio show, I receive another SMS message back as below:
쭌디제이에요. 해피크리스마스 보내세요 ^^


The above brief translation is: " this is jun dj. Happy Christmas wishes to you^^"


Although my messages never got read out but I am very happy baby bother to send mass SMS back to senders of messages and hopefully would have read it n will come to spore. His musical is so good I hope everyone will get a chance to see it in Singapore.

So, well, urm, that’s about it for my SS501 related adventure in Seoul. Honestly, the most memorable one was Baby’s musical. Although it was very cold and not a good season to do shopping in Seoul in December, but the fact I managed to catch Baby’s musical really is worth it!!! Hope everyone have much more encounter with the boys than me when you are in Seoul and do share your fan accounts if any.. keke.
